Camplified!

On Sunday, the boys and I headed up to Camp Blue Ridge in Mountain City, GA to play our first show for the Camplified tour! For those of you that don’t know, Camplified is a really cool organization that brings concerts to summer camps all over the United States. There is a group of artists that perform each year and I am fortunate to be a part of this summer’s program.

Now this was my first Camplified show and I had no idea what to expect- I had definitely never played for a summer camp before. But I can tell you now that, after Camp Blue Ridge, I cannot wait to play another one! Everyone was awesome and I couldn’t have asked for a better experience.

The first thing I noticed and loved was the diversity of the camp. It was full of counselors and campers from all over the world… literally. I thought it was so cool to hear all of them talk about how close they had gotten and how much they care about one another after only a few weeks of working together at the camp. You could tell that they were like a big family and it was cool to be a part of it for a day.

We were the first act to perform at 7:30pm. And as I said, this was my first Camplified show so I didn’t really know what their response to me would be. But I couldn’t believe the reaction from everyone when we started to play ha.

Many of them had no idea what I’m like or what kind of music I play, yet they rushed the stage and were so excited about us being there to play for them. It was a great energy the whole time. We only played about 5 songs but I was completely drenched by the end of the set. In fact, I was so hot that Masha (a counselor from Trinidad) put me in the freezer in the kitchen to cool off! Haha! Sometimes ya gotta do what ya gotta do.

Following the show we had a meet and greet! I really enjoyed talking with every single person. They were just as happy and thankful for us being there as we were to be invited. I can’t wait to do another one of these in the future. They really showed that no matter what our differences are like where we’re from …music brings everyone together. Everyone loves music. Thanks to Camp Blue Ridge for having us! It was great meeting you all! And another shout out to the Camplified staff- we’ll see y’all again soon!
